Hekla London is an artist-led music management company owned and operated by Nick Knowles and Sabira Slow.

Nick Knowles started out in the world of media, where he gained a broad range of experience and contacts during an award-winning decade with Q, MOJO, Kerrang! Mixmag and Empire Magazines.

Following a long-time involvement with the Icelandic music scene, Nick spent a period living and working in Reykjavík. While there, he was involved in a number of music and fashion projects including Iceland Airwaves Festival and Reykjavík Fashion Festival.

On returning to the UK, Nick partnered with Chris Morrison at CMO Management to co-manage Icelandic acts Sóley, Sykur and Lára Rúnars, as well as Brit Award nominee Beth Rowley, before going independent with Hekla London.

Nick’s core strengths include marketing, strategy, digital, A&R and creative management.

Sabira Slow has a wide range of music industry experience. She started out at UK indie Full Time Hobby then onto Sanctuary Records as International Product Manager, before jumping agency side to work with William Morris agent Russell Warby on The White Stripes, Foo Fighters and The Strokes.

A move to CMO Management saw her first foray into management, where she worked as day-to-day manager for Blur and Gorillaz. While at the company she signed UK dubstep producers 16Bit who, before the duo’s premature and unfortunate parting of ways, had collaborated with Björk, Professor Green and Plan B.

A two year stint at Three Six Zero Management, a partner of Jay Z’s Roc Nation, enabled her to continue with the development of future hit-maker Elle Watson, which she brought to the company alongside Canadian alt-rockers The Beaches.

As well as her core strength in the live music industry, Sabira also has a track record of signing artists to both indies and majors as well an impressive contact book built up over the years.
